TAKING THE BORED OUT OF BOARDWALK

With nuts as sweet as ours and the balls in our drinks, the double entendre are endless (a word, phrase, etc., that can be interpreted in two ways, esp one having one meaning that is indelicate) but one thing that is not open to interpretation is the quality of our product and the love in which it is delivered.  If our goal was simply to make money, we would have opened up a pizza joint or fudge shop like every other ‘fine’ retailer on OC’s boardwalk, but our main goal was change … whoa, this is getting a bit too political sounding.. but it’s true, we wanted to give OC’s locals and tourists alike something different .. and after 5 years, I would say that we have succeeded!  Proof? Two new stores opened after us, one trying to sell a bubble tea product like ours and the other trying to crack our nut recipe. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, but just like the younger brother that tries to be like his older brother, copy cats never come quite close enough (haha, that was a joke directed at Rich, the other boba bro).

OUR TEA HAS BALLS

While our nuts sell themselves with their amazing smell, our first couple years of selling bubble tea was way more explaining then it was selling.  As potential customers approached our counter, I knew the four words that were on their lips … it became a joke, I would ask them before they could ask me and they would think that I was a mind reader.  The truth was that everyone was asking the same question, “What is bubble tea?”  I do have to admit that I was sometimes jealous of the people at Ice cream shops never having to answer the question, “what is ice cream,” but answering that question was the fun of the whole thing.  We gave ourselves the opportunity to educate people with a fun snack/drink from a foreign country.  Now, it wasn’t easy to explain.  ”Bubble tea is a drink with balls in the bottom…”  Sounds kind of strange, and the best way to understand it is really to try it, so we started our guaren-tea.  Buy a bubble tea, try it, if you hate it .. no charge to you.  While our offer to buy back the drink was and still is sincere, we had very few people take us up on it. And with that, with 1000’s of explanations and satisfied customers, the question on everybody’s lips was replaced with a jumbo bubble tea straw.  We are so happy to see bubble tea taking off and becoming more mainstream, and it means the world to us to have been a part of the popularization of bubble tea.

While eventually we will be selling bubble tea supplies and kits on this site, for now it is dedicated to our nuts.  You can buy tins (big and small) or individual bags.  We will have coupons and events advertised and coolest of all, we are planning a 24/7 beach cam that will shoot from our store and will have a live feed on our site, so when you are on vacation, your friends stuck at home can see how much fun you’re having.
